Slow Cooker Cinnamon French Toast

From time to time, my friends and I have a girl’s night. This is usually where we drink, eat, and gossip for hours. And then eat and drink some more! It’s mandatory we do this, so we stay up to date on any new information. We had a twist on our recent girl’s night because it wasn’t actually at night! It was during brunch hour! I decided to try a slow cooker French toast recipe for the ladies and it came out delicious!

One thing I hadn’t read was the recipe required you to soak the egg mixture overnight. You really don’t have to. I tried it both ways and learned the bread pieces that soaked overnight had a richer flavor and better texture in the slow cooker than the ones I soaked in the morning. Having learned,  I recommend leaving the egg and bread mixture soaking for a while for this recipe.

The ingredients were fairly common for french toast. I think the only difference from some of the recipes I researched was I used almond milk instead of whole milk. I think any milk for French toast is fine. I was tempted to add a bit more sugar since I wanted a sweeter taste, but when you serve the dish with syrup, it tastes pretty good. I think I just wanted more sugar honestly.

We served our french toast with fresh fruit and bacon! We even had some Kolaches from a factory nearby! Let me know how toasty your french toasts come out!

Slow Cooker Cinnamon French Toast

  • Prep time: 15
  • Chill time: Overnight
  • Cook time: high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours
  • Servings: 6-8


  • 1 1/2 french bread loaf
  • 2 1/2 cups almond milk
  • 8 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted


Take a large mixing bowl and add milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Mix the ingredients well and set aside.

Next cut the French bread loaf into small rectangles about one inch in length. Pour the bread into a large storage container.

Take the egg mixture in the mixing bowl and evenly pour it over the bread pieces. Make sure all pieces of bread are immersed with the egg mixture. Feel free to stir so all the pieces are evenly mixed. When you’re done, place the storage container in the fridge and leave overnight to soak.

The next day, pour the bread and egg mixture into the slow cooker. Add walnuts and melted butter on top. Place the slow cooker on high and cook for about 4 hours. You can also cook the French toast on low for 6 hours.

When ready serve with maple syrup, fruit toppings and enjoy!!
